The Nordic Shop
The Nordic Shop, a Scandinavian Lifestyle Store and so much more . . .
The Nordic Shop is a small family based business that has always called Downtown Rochester home since 1974. The Nordic Shop specializes in Scandinavian Lifestyle products that are authentic and genuine. Many of our companies are over 100 yrs old and take pride in the quality of their products.
In Scandinavia there are several values that go back to early Viking Times and are still true today for which we have founded our store. "Quality over Quantity", "There is no such thing as bad weather, only bad clothing", and "Take care of your resources and you will take care of your future". Our suppliers all create products with those values in mind. That is why your Dale of Norway sweater is generational.
As the seasons change so does The Nordic Shop. Right now we are in Winter and you will feel like you have been transported into a Magical Scandinavian Winter Wonderland, complete with all the Christmas trimmings. You can't walk through our store without getting a huge smile on your face. It truly is a Magical Time!
No matter what the Season The Nordic Shop is always there to make your life a little bit more Scandinavian. Ecology and sustainability are things that always mattered to Scandinavians.

Parajumpers, One of our newer brands, but built for the wilds of the North country. These pieces pay homage to their cousins used by the Air, Sea, Rescue Service in Alaska called “Parajumpers”. As the story goes, 15+ yrs ago a European designer took his sons and grand sons on a fishing trip into Alaska. The plane they were in was forced to make an emergency landing due to a severe storm that blew up. They thought that they were going to die when they heard the sounds of a helicopter. It was the Parajumpers and they had braved the storm to rescue them. To pay them back the designer created the brand Parajumpers, where part of the sales goes to them to pay for equipment and for their relief fund. These designs are made for the environs of Alaska and no matter the weather you will be cozy and warm in one. Shop early, because they go fast.
